Sunday is for Walking (Horses too) ...

Beautiful smoky, foggy morning, became
a fine day for a hike into town. ...

Who can describe their day? Any one of us, and we each face the same experience though completely unique. Looking out on the Planet, Hello God, the existential cosmos, the sun rose this morning as expected, I wanted to sleep in late it is Sunday after all. That seemed to be the general accepted plan. So hard to eliminate or even just lighten the exhaustion level. Great to be here up in Oregon again at my sister's families farmstead. The New World Farmstead. I am here for the health of it. You might say for my heart.

Is it true that breathing air with an AQI of over 400 is like smoking a pack of cigarettes an hour?

I did finally rise and acknowledged my bodily argghhh! discomfort..

      let's move on....

you could have seen me back at the Arcade Fire new video release marveling and enjoying it feeling almost a tear of joy... skipped ahead and went to the internet, to find the chords for No Cars Go. Went down to find Glenn and get my volunteer chore of loading up a 1/2 cord of firewood in the pickup truck done, surprising how a half a cord can completely fill up a pickup truck if you just toss them in willy nilly.

Looked at the small job of 'chopping' (hydraulic wood splitter) and decided that can wait...

Climbed back into bed around noon and slept till' past 3 PM. Put my little made in Nepal Hemp backpack on with Camera and 6 French Prune (perfect) Plums from a tree and headed into town. It occurred to me it was kind of late now. 3:30.. I didn't really know how many miles to town but figured it was do-

able.   ..... Hey look here you old suave Billy Goat, you got some
advice for a human trying to muster up some of that suave,
muy suave style ..... 'f'geddaboutit !!' (we both say)

                                              Here Kitty Kitty ....

                                               See you later Bob ...

Had a fine walk into town. 14 mile roundtrip ....  Got rescued on the way in,
and on the way home. So rural and yet so close to civilization, where I am right now
back in the cabin, not far away, Eugene. pop. 171,000.

Thank you Tyler, who had spent his day earlier volunteering

at the clothing rescue center in Eugene, just helping sort stuff, just a small

thing to lend a hand. I had stuck m thumb out for just a split second it

seemed ... the third vehicle,  just as I was telling myself

'no one picks up hitchhikers, these days of masks and fear', shazam…!

So many signs say Choose Kindness .... sounds good.

I try... hard to walk past the Homeless along Chambers Street getting ready for

a night on the sidewalk. I saw a mix of human colors amongst those there.

Homeless Lives Matter. 10 minutes later there's a guy pushing a shopping cart

on the sidewalk up ahead he's slow, he's limping, I see among other things

in the cart are a pair of crutches, I walk past walking out into the street,

social distancing you know. I slow to say something, and he says something

which I can't really hear. I took my mask off.  He kept talking through his

mask, a still young man, finally he takes its down and says he has been

having a hard time finding aluminum tin cans in the trash...

I say maybe it's the smoke, nobody wants to go out at all.

I think of the homeless I have seen who have done what he does...

scavenge through the recycling to make a couple of dollars a day.

I gave him a bill, bigger than a dollar, he seemed happy.

   It wasn't much.

On the way home 7 PM and about time to call home for rescue the

second vehicle passing pulls over and a smiling face says, 'get in'.

Brandon loved my Bobcat photo .. 'most definitely a full grown cat' he says.

He could tell by the markings on the face and legs. He says post the photo on

the Oregon Fire Information website. It's not really a fire photo I say..

‘It's good’ he says ‘people want to look at something besides fires. ‘

He drove a little out of the way to get me home and then right up the driveway.

    Thanks Brandon.

    Tonight I can't find the website. …. It's alright.
