Back in California

'At least I am not in New York' said a friend of mine about an hour ago who grew up near Albany. The conversation had gone to Hudson Valley miseries and maybe delights...
Well at least you got your good business here I am saying too him with his shop that he has owned for more than 30 years(?). Got it working? Got it together.. he snorts 'Life is a A F'n struggle.' Talking about financial survival. Despite his great landlord. Can we have a day to honor decent Landlords everywhere that's about..
not about Landlord Slavery but about the Landlords that actually give people some freedom to live and make a living... Sigh.

I am pretty unsettled back in Marin. Still looking to work with Morse's directive..
...Pay no Rent!' I maybe buying a tent from Big 5 anyday. Been sleeping in Kevin and Gary's basement for the past couple of days, as well as back to night time cab driving. Sigh. A lot of sighing Guy? Always. If you want to pitch a tent at a California State Park, a place owned by the public for the public, it costs $35 a night. Sigh. I can look for some hidden little patch of green to hide a tent. Phew...

Back at the Wilkins Hotel where I had lived much of then last couple of years, an old-fashioned boarding House - disaster has struck in the form of the City of San Rafael. They have condemned 11 rooms and a bunch of poor men are out on the street.
The City says every room must have two exits. Where I had stayed the humble 8 x 10 room with the bathroom down the hall had a nice skylight up top. Not safe enough says
the fire department. Despite the owners offers of ladders and exits through the skylights or exits into adjacent rooms and doors that open automatically No way says the City. !! units of true affordable housing gone. I asked the owners if the local media had reported on this. No she says. You don't want to mess with City Hall someone said ' they just will make things harder on you.'

'The Nanny State' my dispatcher at the cab company says re:this story. I'm afraid our state is becoming worse than a Nanny State. As security becomes the force to screw with small businesses, farmers any one who wants some degree of independence
and in the meantime the 'T Party' in the Bay Area is completely lost as it is nationwide as they are busy trumpeting the Berkeley Lawyer Dr. Yu who authored Bush's Torture Policy apparently he is speaking in Berkeley coming up and the T party
is trying to fill the Hall so that the dreaded Left Wing isn't there and we can cheer for a world safe for Government Torture. So it goes.. so it goes.. so it goes.. so it goes..but where it's going no one knows. Thank you Nick Lowe.
